Official Closure of "2015 – Russian Year in Monaco"

A concert given yesterday evening at the Salle Garnier officially closed "2015 - Russian Year in Monaco." Many Monegasque and Russian dignitaries were present alongside H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover, including Mr. Vladimir Medinski, Minister of Culture and Mr. Alexeï Meshkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The concert paid tribute to Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky, celebrating the 175^th anniversary of the composer's birth. In the first part of the programme, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti, accompanied pianist Alexandre Ghindin in the Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat minor, before performing Symphony No. 6 in B minor in the second part of the programme.
