As part of the “2015 – the Year of Russia in Monaco” event, pupils from Years 7, 9 and 11 who are studying Russian as a foreign language had an opportunity to take part in a Russian culture competition.

The written element of the competition, which covered the knowledge acquired during the course of the year and was mandatory for all pupils, comprised two parts: civilisation and language.

The 24 pupils who passed the written test went on to take an oral test, during which they were invited to comment, in Russian, on a photograph of a symbolic monument in Moscow or St Petersburg. Songs and poems in Russian were also performed for the jury.

At the end of the tests, 12 winners were awarded prizes at the offices of the Department of Education, Youth and Sport on Thursday 2 July.

This cordial ceremony, attended by Ms Ekaterina SEMENIKHINA, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Monaco, and Ms Isabelle Bonnal, Director of Education, Youth and Sport, recognised the achievements of:

From Lycée Albert I:

Year 7: Thays BLANCHARD, May DANZIGER, Chloë DRUENNE, Cassilia GOURDON, Anya MAZZUCCO, Ricardo PANSINI, Andrea TORTELLA and Mistral ZERBI.
