First economic mission to Rostov-on-Don

A delegation of Monegasque businesswomen and businessmen traveled to the Rostov region from 17 to 20 September 2019 to participate in the first economic mission organized in a region of Russia.

12 Monegasque entities took part in this mission supervised by the Monaco Economic Board and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rostov, and organized with the Embassy of the Principality of Monaco to the Russian Federation and the Honorary Consulate of Monaco in Rostov.

Several events marked this trip:

About a hundred people attended a conference that gave rise to several speeches aimed at presenting the specific economic characteristics of Rostov and the Principality of Monaco. High-level Russian personalities took the floor on this occasion, including the Deputy Governor of the region - Mr Viktor Goncharov, and the Deputy Regional Minister for Economic Development - Mr Roman Tchekhovtsov.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Monaco Economic Board and the Rostov Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

More than 70 interviews were organized for Monegasque women and businessmen with Russian counterparts. Their discussions could be prolonged in a less formal setting during a networking cocktail organized after the meetings.

The delegation also discovered some facets of the local economy with visits to a sturgeon farm specializing in caviar production and the shipyard "RIF".
